Doctors Ozment and Bruksch attended the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Training and Testing program.  It was presented by the Illinois Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and held in Oak Brook, IL on March 3 & 4, 2014. Seventeen of our OMS staff members also attended this training.

ACLS refers to a set of clinical interventions for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest, stroke, and other life-threatening medical emergencies. Only qualified health care providers can provide ACLS, as it requires an understanding of electrocardiograms as well as emergency pharmacology. The training is based on simulated clinical scenarios, encouraging hands-on participation through various learning stations.

Although we our hope is never to need this training, it is vitally important to be educated and current on handling any situations that threaten a patient’s health.  With this yearly certification, we can react confidently and competently if an any medical emergencies should arise.
