Dr. John J. Richard
I was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. I attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn as an undergraduate and graduated from The University of Michigan School of Dentistry.
Upon graduation from dental school, I served three years as a dental officer in the U.S. Navy. I completed a one year general practice residency at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. Over the next two years I practiced general dentistry at various naval stations including Pt Mugu Naval Air Weapons Station in Oxnard, California and Roosevelt Roads Naval Base in Puerto Rico.
I then completed a one year fellowship in anesthesiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. My oral and maxillofacial surgery residency was completed at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I then fulfilled my military obligation as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, first by serving as a staff surgeon at the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. I served my last two years in the U.S. Navy as the oral and maxillofacial surgery department head at the U.S. Naval Hospital Guam. I joined the OMS practice in July of 2006.
I am board certified in oral and maxillofacial surgery. I am a member of multiple professional organizations including:

- Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- Wisconsin Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
- American Dental Association

- Burlington Memorial Hospital
- Lakeland Medical Center
I am certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
I am married, with four children. My wife Protima and I live in Lakewood, Illinois. I enjoy most athletic activities, travel, and spending time with my family.
